Orientation
In 2005 the pastors Wim and Sonja Odendaal started looking into the possiblities of setting up Houses of Hope Ministries Suriname. A ministry that focuses on taking care of, accompanying and rehabilitating children in need, teaching, counselling Christians detainees in prisons and helping ex-detainees in their resocializing-process.Experience
As the pastors themselves have a background of neglect, abuse, children’s homes, juvenile prisons and immorality they know better than anybody else that the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the message of hope, forgiveness, healing, deliverance and restoration, is for everybody. No matter what culture, background or age.Daycare Inland of Suriname
In 2006 Wim and Sonja Odendaal started renting, renovating and painting the first family-replacement home, where a maximum of 10 children can be taken in. In August 2008 the first children came. In 2011 this project is moved to the inland of Suriname, read more about that under 'Daycare'.Prison-ministry
After having worked with a team of different churches in one of the prisons of Suriname, Houses of Hope Suriname in April 2008 was invited by the Department of Justice (Prison-department) to come and teach in a number of the prisons of Paramaribo.Missions
Alongside these two social projects in Paramaribo Houses of Hope Ministries is also involved in missions in the inland of Suriname. By involving Christians from abroad they create funds for their social activities in Paramaribo and find a way to support some local churches in the inland on a small scale.Support us
